We had a great time meeting old and new faces at Texprocess Americas 2016, the largest North American trade show for displaying equipment and technology for the development, sourcing and production of sewn products.
In a special panel dedicated to the 3D technology evolution for the fashion industry, Under Armour shared their experiences of using 3D to create better product and fit for their athletes. “3D has changed the way we work,” says Shannon Moulden, Under Armour Tech Design Manager, “We’re just getting started.”
By redesigning an entire collection at the last minute, there was no time to have enough samples before a sales meeting. With 3D technology, in a few weeks, Under Armour was able to replace physical samples with hundreds of virtual samples – resulting in significant savings, and a reduction of product development time by about 50%. Designers and vendor partners were also able collaborate much earlier to identify problems, improve fit, make faster decisions and necessary changes to create better products and better athletes.
Many visitors came to the booth to learn and get demos about Optitex’s latest digital innovations including photorealistic 3D, Digital Collection App and the latest O/15.5 version.
Visitors were shown the full workflow cycle from 2D to 3D, including creating and leveraging true-to-life 3D digital samples for design and development, and across the board in sales, marketing and even e-commerce.
Optitex US & Canada President Yoram Burg also moderated a panel on the “Present and Future Trends in Product Development” where panelists discussed the way automation and robotics are evolving the manufacturing process and how it will affect the industry in the coming years.
We hope everyone who came gained insights and were digitally inspired. We look forward to see you at the next event!
